During the summer of 2005, Disney quietly solicited participants for the initial vacations to Hawaii and Yellowstone. The Adventures by Disney in 2005 were limited to a very small number of guests in a sort of pilot program to see how the adventures would be received by the general public.

In 2005, Disney offered special introductory pricing to attract guests to try the initial adventures. They introductory pricing was expensive, to say the least. A 7 night “Escape to Paradise” package to Hawaii was $7,800 for a family of four, while the “Quest for the West” Yellowstone package was $5,600 for a family of four. The packages include most of your meals, but not any airfare.

Each year, Disney has added and dropped new destinations, depending on how they fared with sales and clients. 2008 is their biggest offering yet, with destinations on 6 continents.
